Biography
According to Masikura, when Princess Julienne and Prince Barty went camping in the middle of the jungle near the Aye-Aye kingdom, Prince Julien, who was still a baby, crawled out of the tent and went around the jungle to look for the source of a mysterious sound. And and then he found baby named Maurice who was placed on a slice of a bluish blanket with a bong on him.

All Hail King Julien
He is one of Julien's sidekicks, forth with Clover and Mort. He is oft trying to get King Julien to abort his foolish plans. He is the royal adviser and the best friend of King Julien. With the assistance of Mort and Clover, he was able to save King Julien from various enemies, while helping him become a improve king.

By Madagascar 3, obviously, Maurice feels exasperated and stifled by Rex Julien. Personality
Maurice is more than intelligent than Male monarch Julien, Mort and most of the other lemurs combined. He does not share the other two lemurs' bad cases of the "stupids" (natural stupidity). He is more grounded than whatsoever of the other lemurs or penguins. He is extremely loyal to King Julien and is like an older blood brother to Mort. This was shown in Right Manus Man when he helped the penguins stop Clemson from getting rid of Julien, and in Operation: Costly and Cover when he was incredibly happy when the penguins rescued Mort. He usually thinks King Julien is bizarre, but he as well loves dancing and parties, profitable the King with his insane and selfish plans, and is entirely loyal to him.
Through out All Hail Male monarch Julien, he does all he is able to support Male monarch Julien and continues to help him during his reign. Every bit a member of King Julien's regal circle, Maurice acts as a loyal advisor and assists King Julien to help mould him into a great king. Information technology was his wise advice and the help of Clover which moulded King Julien to a smashing king. Hence, Maurice could be classed equally an extremely wise and witty character.
