"Again" is a song by American rock musician Lenny Kravitz, being the but new vocal from his start Greatest Hits album, released in 2000. Written, bundled and produced by himself, "Once more" was initially set to be on his sixth studio album; however, Kravitz found out that the song didn't fit the tone of the anthology, releasing it instead as the lead single from the compilation on September 22, 2000, through Virgin Records. The mid-tempo rock ballad finds Kravitz wondering if he will always see his onetime lover once more and if they will reunite once more.

"Again" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who called information technology a magnificent and anthemic pounder. "Once more" besides won Kravitz a Grammy Laurels for All-time Male person Stone Song Functioning in 2001, a feat he had already accomplished twice consecutively, with "Fly Away" and "American Woman". In 1998, Lenny Kravitz released his fifth studio album, 5. "Again" was written, arranged and produced solely by Lenny Kravitz. According to the digital sheet music published by Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the vocal is written in the key of A major,[10] and set in a moderately tempo of 84 beats per minute. Kravitz's vocals span from the depression note of E3 to the high notation of A4.[11] Lyrically, "Over again" details about losing contact with a by lover and wondering if they will always encounter each other in the future to give the relationship another run a risk.[ citation needed ]

Critical reception and accolades [edit]

"Again" received high praise from music critics. In his review for the Greatest Hits, Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic selected the song as ane of the album's highlights as well as calling the song "magnificent".[12] Matthew S. Robinson of Music Dish wrote that the song is "an anthemic pounder which, like so many of his other songs, is claw-heavy and a chip repetitive and for which Kravitz diligently handles much of the orchestration and performance himself."[13] Rob Brunner of Entertainment Weekly was more than critical with the vocal, calling it a "ridiculous mid-tempo snooze", where Kravitz "sings similar Bryan Adams and plays guitar like he'southward auditioning for a Journey tribute band."[xiv]

"Again" was nominated and eventually won a Grammy Accolade for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, in its 43rd edition. Past doing so, Kravitz managed to ready a Grammy Honour record, by having the about consecutive Grammys won for Best Male Stone Song Performance with "Fly Abroad" (1999), "American Woman" (2000), "Once more" (2001) and later "Dig In" (2002).[15] The song also entered VH1's list of "25 Greatest Ability Ballads" at number 13.[xvi]

"Again" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 72, condign the "Hot Shot Debut" of the week ending November 18, 2000.[17] The song entered the top-x ix weeks later, on the edition of January 20, 2001, climbing from number 11 to number 9,[18] becoming his second top-ten unmarried. Synopsis [edit]

The music video for "Again" features Kravitz with his girlfriend in his flat (Gershon), whom he does non seem to exist interested in. Similar to the song's lyrical content, he meets a daughter (Teresa Lourenco), who works equally a waitress in a restaurant/diner. At the end of the video, Kravitz goes to the eating place to encounter her again, only she is not there and Kravitz leaves.
